Parish Events in March

Parish Walks

Our next Parish Walk will be on Saturday 9th March and will be led by Thomas Dowse. Please meet at 9.30am at Stratford International DLR station.

We will walk through the Olympic Park towards Hackney Marshes. The walk will take us alongside the River Lee before crossing into Walthamstow Marshes, ending with lunch (for those who wish to take it) at The Princess of Wales pub in Clapton around 12:30pm. For those who need to depart swiftly at the end of the walk, there are regular transport links from Clapton Overground back to Liverpool Street. Otherwise, it will be a 35 minute return walk to Stratford after lunch.

Please sign up on the sheet in church or email Lesley in the church office if you wish to join the walk. Please let us know by Wednesday 6th March so we can reserve a table in the pub for you to buy your lunch.

Also note the date of our 13th April walk, which will be a return to the Ashridge Forest in Hertfordshire, a walk which had to be cancelled last Autumn due to bad weather.

Lent Course

Our Lent Course exploring the Book of Common Prayer continues during March. It has been wonderful to see such a good turn out so far - thanks to all those who have made time to attend.

If you haven't managed it yet, there is still value in coming along to the remaining sessions. Each session takes place at 12.30pm in the Vestry House and lasts an hour. A light lunch is served. No prior reading is required (!) and you will be welcome to join us for as many sessions as you can. The course runs every week until Easter, except 17 March. Contact Wil to find out more.

Year for Prayer Guest Speakers

On Palm Sunday, 24th March at 6.30pm, we welcome Prof Nicola Slee to speak on the theme of the Magnificat, Mary's Song of Praise.

Nicola is Professorial Research Fellow at the Queen's Foundation in Birmingham, where she has been based since 1997. Her research focuses on women's faith, gender and religious experience. Nicola is also Professor of Feminist Practical Theology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.

Time for Tea

Our next monthly pre-Evensong gathering for tea, cake and good company will be on the afternoon of Easter Sunday at 5.30pm - so you can expect some extra-special cakes and, who knows, maybe a few Easter bonnets... Do drop in before heading to Evensong for a chance to meet others in the congregation and choir.
